Welcome to the Scout Section for 1st Casey
Scouts is for boys and girls aged between 10.5 and 15 years who like to have lots of fun and participate in action-packed activities. 1st Casey Troop meets on Thursday nights from 7.00pm to 9.00pm during school terms. Our Scout Leaders are Shiny and Oppy.
What Scouts Do!
At Troop nights, scouts participate in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities. Scouts work in a team as a member of a patrol, led by a Patrol Leader and Assistant Patrol Leader. Patrol Leaders develop and hone leadership skills as a member of Troop Council, and help plan the program and manage the troop guided by a Scout Leader. Scouts earn badges on three different levels, starting at Pioneer, Explorer and then on to Adventurer. Special troop nights include Bring a Friend Night, Bike Hikes, Hiking and Orienteering.
But there is more…
Scouts are busy on weekends throughout the year. Patrol hikes over 15km and 30km, rock climbing, caving, Mudbash with the Rovers, Snow Ski Camp and helping out at Cub Pack Holidays. Meeting scouts from around the District at Backwards Cookoff, Scout Leadership Course and attending ANZAC Day Services in the city and High Street, Berwick. Developing bushcraft and camping skills at JOTA (Jamboree on the Air), Cohen Shield and Stradboke Cup. The big event each year is Gilweroo, 3 days of fun activities at Bay Park with a thousand plus scouts from around Victoria. Every four years there is a National Scout Jamboree. In 2013, 11 Casey Scouts and one leader travelled to Maryborough in Queensland for 10 days of activities with thousands of scouts from around Australia as part of Troop o48, check out the Facebook Page — JAMBOREE 2013 — Troop-O48. The next Jamboree, AJ2016, is in 2016 at Cataract Park, Sydney. Are you ready to accept the challenge and become a Scout? Join 1st Casey as a Scout today.
